The Facts You Need to Lose Weight and Keep it Off

OK, this is it, this time you are really going to lose those extra pounds for good! You know or have at least heard or seen the old formula: Eat Less Calories than You Expend and You Lose Weight. You are motivated and ready to start; but also maybe a little unsure since this may not be the first time you have set out to lose weight. There are so many diets that promise you will lose weight fast (maybe you’ve tried some of them), so many myths and so much conflicting weight loss information out there. How do you choose the ‘right’ diet that’s going to finally help you lose weight? You don’t -- Diets don’t work!

According to the FDA, an estimated 50 million Americans will go on diets this year.
Some will lose weight, but only approximately 5 percent will manage to keep the weight off in the long run. Relying on willpower and a restrictive diet to lose weight is a recipe for failure. That simple formula of eat less and lose weight gets a little more complicated by how our bodies react to what it perceives as deprivation and the relationship between our emotions, bodies and behaviors.

Take a New Approach and Lose Weight Permanently

This site is intended to provide you with information and resources to help you take a complete and balanced approach to safely and permanently lose weight. If you have been on the yo-yo diet merry-go-round for years, you may want to start with End Self-Sabotage and Lose Weight. This article explores the relationship between unresolved emotions, anxieties, fears and guilt and weight issues. It offers practical advice for identifying and resolving the root cause(s) of emotional eating and other behaviors that may have hampered your previous attempts to lose weight.

Deciding on Permanent Change asks you to examine your readiness for permanent change and your reasons for losing weight. It also introduces tools and techniques to help you uncover and remove hidden resistance to your success. How Weight Loss Works provides an easy to understand, common sense look at the basics of weight loss and some advice for avoiding common pitfalls on your journey to lose weight.

Nutrition and Exercise – Yes, It Still Matters

Healthy Eating is a common sense guide to nutrition basics and portion control. Eating to lose weight doesn’t have to mean stressful calorie counting and precise measurements. You can lose weight without obsessing about what you can and can’t eat. Managing Cravings discusses techniques for managing those cravings for ‘junk food’ that can make healthy eating more challenging. Often the cravings we get are a result of stress, anxiety or another emotional event. Learning to effectively deal with these moments without tranquilizing yourself with food can make a big difference in your ability to lose weight.

Exercise Effectively covers exercise basics and points you to additional resources. Losing weight doesn’t have to mean hours in the gym or exercise classes each day. You can find activities you enjoy that will help to keep you strong and lean.

Nobody’s Perfect reminds you to focus on your progress not perfection. Remember, we are talking about a lifelong change here, getting off track is no reason to go back to unhealthy habits. Look at your progress with pride and instead of beating yourself up about a slip, concentrate on what emotions, fears or anxieties are getting in your way to success and address them with confidence.
You Can Do It – Best Wishes on Your Journey to a Healthier Life!

Lose Weight with EFT

Important note: While EFT has produced remarkable clinical results, it must still be considered to be in the experimental stage and thus practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of it. Further, Gary Craig is not a licensed health professional and offers EFT as an ordained minister and as a personal performance coach. Those who want to discuss the use of EFT for a specific emotional problem with a professional in the mental health field are referred to our Referral section, where a number of licensed practitioners who use EFT in their practices are listed.
